The Program: Design, Culture, Research – Emerging Methods for 21st Century Design


This course is structured around two key strands:

  • UX and UI: User-centred design research methods

  • Idea Development and Creative Expression


Participants will have the opportunity to choose from a range of interdisciplinary design briefs addressing societal challenges or areas of change, such as identity and place, design for well-being, or sustainability and materials. The design outputs will be speculative, emphasizing research, idea development, and potential solutions or provocations.

Through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops, and study visits, students will develop their ideas and produce a creative response. These outputs will be presented digitally in small teams, encouraging collaboration, critical thinking, and innovative problem-solving.
